FAMILY ART TRADITIONS INNOVATION

I'm Andrea and I run a family business together with my cousin Giacomo, in the beautiful island of Murano, in Venice. We focus on art glass, lighting and interior design.

 

My family also owns four galleries in Venice city center: my father has been working with the best brands, glass masters and artists of Murano island since the '70s and my maternal grandfather was "temperista" (in charge of "tempera": it consists in inserting the glass just worked by the Master inside special temperature-controlled ovens, where they remain for the whole night starting from a temperature of 600 ° C to arrive at room temperature; the following morning this process is essential so that all the various pieces made do not burst or crack) for several furnaces including the famous Carlo Moretti from the late '50s till the early '70s. 

 

Last but not least, my mother's step-uncle was an important glass Master at Venini before moving to Germany to create and develop artistic glass collections for Rosenthal.
